August 29, 2011
On the evening of Saturday, September 10, 2011, The Council of Religious Leaders of Metropolitan Chicago (CRLMC), in cooperation with the Council of Islamic Organizations of Greater Chicago (CIOGC), will be hosting An Evening of Remembrance: 10th Anniversary of September 11, 2001. The event will be held at Daley Plaza, 50 West Washington in Chicago, from 8:30 to 9:30pm. Imam Kareem Irfan, CRLMC President, said, "We are pleased to hold this interfaith gathering which will be the major Chicago religious and civic remembrance of the 9/11 tragedy. This coming together of Chicago's diverse faith communities on this important occasion once again highlights our shared commitment to nurturing American society in reliance upon so many of our shared values and expectations."
In commemorating the anniversary, Rabbi Michael Balinsky, Executive Vice President of the Chicago Board of Rabbis and CLRMC Secretary, noted that "through reflections and prayers, the program will remember the victims, recognize the responders, and renew our commitment to work for a better future."
